Crymych deservedly climbed away from the threat of relegation with this excellent win at Gorseinon, who are still ahead of the Preseli Men but with a narrower margin as a result of a solid all-round performance by the visitors. Fortunes ebbed and flowed on an inevitably heavy pitch and Gorseinon can take some small consolation from the fact that they outscored Crymych by three tries to two to pick up a bonus point for being within seven points at the finish. But, vitally, the Preseli Men didn’t concede kickable penalties and in scrum half Rhys Davies had a place kicker of their own who notched the conversions of both tries scored by winger Tomos Phillips and centre Carwyn Phillips, plus two well-struck penalties. Gorseinon had tries by flanker Kieran Craig, scrum half Jack Gronow and winger Rhodri Phelps but all went unconverted as Crymych were delighted to collect their fourth win in ten outings as reward for their efforts.
