Too many missed tackles and an inability to finish off some promising line breaks were two of the areas where Crymych struggled and eventually came unstuck at Felinfoel and Tom Powell and his men will be looking to bounce back this weekend when Llwchwr come to Parc Lloyd Thomas.

The Preselimen travelled in a confident mood following their defeat of league leaders Llanelli Wanderers in the previous game but they struggled in the greasy conditions and the rain which never stopped throughout the game made life difficult.

There was little to choose between the teams in the opening quarter but tries from full back Elliot Dawes and winger Kyle Symmonite gave Felinfoel the lead they deserved but Crymych created some decent openings through debutant winger Guto Harries and full back Tomos Phillips and with a little more patience and composure there would have been a far healthier score at the break than the 14-0 on the scoreboard.

The home side who were well led by outside half Aled Roberts added to their try tally with two more from full back Dawes to all but end the contest and a further try from second row Jason Frater completed a miserable afternoon for Crymych.

Felinfoel jumped up above Crymych into sixth place in the division following this win.

Skipper Powell whose work rate at the base of the scrum was outstanding as usual alongside terriers Guto Davies and Dylan Phillips admitted to being disappointed with some aspects of his team’s performance and said:” We played well at times and made a lot of promising line breaks but the passes just didn’t seem to stick for us.

“Fair play they had a very sharp back line especially their half backs but we didn’t help ourselves as we missed far too many tackles and this cost us as you can’t do it at this standard.”

Powell though did single out the performance of winger Guto Harries for an impressive show on his debut game.
