Good afternoon and a warm welcome back to all players and supporters for the season's first League fixture in WRU Championship West. Last year in this division we had an exciting time of it - from being afraid about holding our own we went close to the top, and at the end we were potentially looking at promotion! Hopefully this year will be as exciting on the field, with many "old rivals" and one or two new ones. With no local derbies we will be spending a lot of time on the M4. Our opponents today will be Maesteg Quins - on behalf of Clwb Rygbi Crymych I extend a warm welcome to you.
As was expected our 2nd team Tarwod Crymych have now entered into Division 4 West A. This means we will be hosting several relatively local clubs to the ground -they are not playing today but have Narberth Athletic here next Saturday. The youth are away at Llangwm, having survived a lean year, ending on a high by coming second in the u17s Cup.
As you will see the players will be wearing new shirts today, A Big thank you again goes to MDS Distribution for sponsoring the shirts and also the pre-match t- shirts and after game Polos. Thanks also to Steve Edwards, Crymych Building Supplies, Adref Construction and Preseli Electrical who have sponsored the Training tops and Leisure wear for the 1st team,
We recently held a day to both commemorate our lost friend and player Marc Beasley whilst raising funds towards testing players hearts. In the process we raised a staggering £37,000. This is not the first time I have been left speechless by the goodwill and generosity of the local community, and I would like to thank all involved in organizing and participating in whatever way - Thankyou all!
Today's match will be the first without a staunch supporter and founder member of the club, John Barley Davies, who we lost quite suddenly a few weeks ago. He was a friend to all here, and with the referee and players permission it seems fitting to have a minute's silence before kickoff for people to remember him. The referee for today is Elfyn Morris-Roberts of Swansea. As a club we extend a warm welcome, as organizers and fans we expect everyone to follow the code of conduct towards officials, set out elsewhere in the program, and posted around the pitch.
Thank You Huw Scourfield
