If Crymych manage to avoid the drop this season it will go down as one of the great escapes as a few weeks ago they looked dead and buried but they are slowly catching the teams above them.
They have given themselves a real shot in the arm after they secured a narrow win away at Heywood Lane, a tough place to play at any time, but they need to keep this run going.
Next up for skipper Rhys ‘Biki’ Davies and his men are games against Gorseinon, Llangennech and Llanelli Wanderers, teams who are out of the title race and in positions of safety.
Positive results against these teams could well hoist the Preselimen up above their relegation rivals if other results go their way and crucially fellow strugglers Tycroes and Kidwelly have to come to Parc Lloyd Thomas for the final two games of the season!
The Preselimen who still remain the bottom side in the division, have several games in hand over their relegation rivals and this win represents a welcome boost and they may well survive if their form continues.
Utility forward Zac France-Miller put the visitors ahead when he finished off a period of heavy pressure and barged his way over and fly half Jake Jenkins (main pic) upgraded the score with the conversion. The game played under flood lights and in extremely cold conditions produced very few try scoring opportunities with the only other Crymych score of the half coming from the boot of Jenkins who slotted over a penalty.
The seasiders finally opened their account after the break with a long range penalty by fly half Jonathan Rogers and he and his side pushed hard for another score but some resilient defending by the visitors well led by skipper Davies and second row Osian Davies and number eight Richard Sharpe Williams kept them out and Crymych hung on for what could be a very important victory.
